The Welshman Jamie Donaldson will be showcasing his golfing skills for the first time on American soil to be staged at the Atlanta Athletic Club by the USPGA. He was invited to play in the last major in USA at Atlanta despite dropping to the 102nd position in the world rankings. He has so far not won a single European tour title in over 200 starts and his recent showing had him finish in the 45th position in the Irish Open that concluded last weekend. Donaldson has to make the most of this opportunity handed out to him by USPGA as his record has been very dismal so far. He has only played in the 2006 Hoylake Major so far and has made over ten attempts to qualify for the Open.
Scot Stephen Gallacher, who finished third in the recently concluded Irish Open, has also been invited to play at the major tournament in Atlanta. Scot Stephen has moved from the 103rd position last week to the 90th position in the world rankings this week owing to his third position finish at the Irish Open at Killarney. Swedish player Carl Pettersson who is only two places below Donaldson’s ranking will also be trying his hand out at the last American Major Open at Atlanta. He is only the tenth reserved player to play at the Majors in America.
Now, Donaldson will be hoping to prove his critics wrong and will be going all out to record a commendable performance in his first Major in America. There is no doubt that the 35 year old has the potential to make a big statement in America. All he has to do is get his basic golfing skills in position and take it one hole at a time rather than thinking way ahead. Donaldson is been practicing very hard to make an impact in America and is hoping to perform the best among the European player chosen for the Atlanta Open. A lot of dedication, concentration and grinding have to be undertaken to prove that one should be playing in the Major golfing championships. Total dedication and hard work will only lead one to the path of glory and Donaldson is determined to reverse the trend in his favor in this later part of his golfing career. So, many of Donaldson’s fans and relatives will be waiting to see how he plays during the Atlanta Majors.
